Occupy Vancouver Monday

The rain has come and we have had our first casualty.

A young street woman died on site from causes unknown.

The city has threatened eviction but with an upcoming Mayoral election on the 19th it is unlikely any action will occur.

I suspect they may cut power and perhaps file an injunction

But with the encampment being on provincial land leased by the city it is a legal quagmire.

The library continues to thrive and books and authors keep coming to visit.

The Food not Bomb tent serves over a 1000 meals a day and the medics are kept busy.

Tent city and the suburbs are fine.

The crowd is becoming more militant though at the general assembly non violence was voted in again.

The 99% encompasses a wide range of characters who live vastly differently lives and in fact inhabit spaces that are culturally, economically and socially foreign.

i.e. interrupting some one who is full of themselves is expected on “the street” but considered rude by the liberal class who love to hear themselves talk and use prevailing social constructs to dominate.

Really the bourgeoisie are incredibly boring and for the most part appear to want a bigger piece of the power pie in a society dedicated to the spectacle.

At the very least they are elitist and strategic…

and thriving in late stage capitalism.

If not for….the movement would have no soul…

smile…

let it rain! let it rain! let it rain!

we got traction.
